i have about 9 young asparagus crowns that have sent up a riot of ferns. they're 2 years old, but my brother started them in planters and they didnt do well in the planters at all. most of them seemed to be dying. so this spring we transplanted them all into my raised bed garden, and they seem to be doing much better. two of the crowns i think ( Read more... )

I just purchased these beautiful Gazanias at my local Gardening center. What I am wondering is, should I fertilize their soil? And if so, how often and what type of fertilizer do you all suggest I use? I have a bunch of lavender on the side of my house. After it blooms it leaves these stick looking parts and they're pretty ugly. I thought they would just pull out because they appear pretty dead but they don't.
What can I do with it to make it look nice again? Do I have to go in and shape the bush or something?

2 years ago, my neighbours cut down an heirloom rose bush that was in our front yard (still unsure about whose side it was on). Last year I noticed it was starting to come back with little twiggy rose sticks on my side of the yard. I tried to protect them from the weed whacker. Okay, so out of the two or three tomato seeds I planted, I've got one sprout (thus far) and it's about an inch tall with two leaves on it. I planet some sweat peas awhile ago and I'm worried about it. This ws the first time I ever planted them and the plant it grew but then it seemed to just stop and the leaves, it just doesn't look right to me. I don't know if it's the ants that invaded the ground near it or it's not getting enough water I really like some feedback.
